Situated on a tranquil residential street near the legendary King’s Road, this beautifully refurbished 1853 red-brick freehouse serves flavoursome modern British-inspired cooking, an imaginative drinks menu.
The Walmer Castle
NOTTING HILL
A handsome Notting Hill landmark since 1845, the newly renovated Walmer Castle offers spruce London pub décor, deliciously simple British-inspired dining, and a quietly remarkable art collection.
The Carpenters Arms

The latest addition to the Wren Pubs family, The Carpenter’s Arms is a characterful nineteenth-century pub that sits on a quiet corner near the elegant St Peter’s Square on the Hammersmith/Chiswick border.

Family-run and proudly independent, Wren Pubs is a portfolio of welcoming historic local freehouses in some of London’s most charming neighbourhoods.
Handsomely renovated to reframe their original character for new generations of drinkers and diners, the pubs offer delicious, unfussy modern-British cooking and interesting drinks menus, complemented by comfortable interiors, striking art collections and imaginative events programmes.
Whether guests drop in for a fine ale and a fireside game of Scrabble, a cosy weeknight dinner or a celebration in one of the smart private-hire spaces, there is always a warm welcome.

The simple, modern-British-inspired cooking spotlights the finest and freshest seasonal produce available, working with small producers distinguished by outstanding ethical and sustainability credentials, and who also supply some of the UK’s best restaurants.
Meanwhile, wine, beer and spirits lists feature imaginative choices, carefully co-curated with independent suppliers with a shared enthusiasm for new and surprising discoveries. Service is always professional yet relaxed, delivered by friendly, well-trained staff who know the food and drink offers inside out, as well as the names of the regulars (and those of their dogs).
Company profile
Wren Pubs has deep roots in British brewing and hospitality. Its co-owner Jack Greenall’s family can trace their expertise at the forefront of the industry back to the mid 18th-century.
Jack’s own career as an independent landlord began when in 2016 he took over the acclaimed Berkshire pub with rooms The Pheasant, whose sales he quadrupled in five years. Alongside Wren Pubs Jack continues to fulfil a management contract for an 11-bedroom boutique hotel in the Hampshire countryside.
In 2021 the relaunch of the much-loved Chelsea local The Surprise marked the start of a new chapter for Jack, by then a London-based family man. With the addition in November 2023 of The Walmer Castle, a buzzing pub on Notting Hill’s iconic Ledbury Road, The Wren Pubs portfolio was born.
